The Mission
Your template is your foundation of the values that will appear on your RFQ. If it is a questions that you would normally ask on an RFQ, it should be included. You also have the option to set fields as open to your supplier or information provided by you. When you are thinking about creating your template make sure you are considering:
- What is the information you must have from the bidders to make a decision - these are your "response required" fields
- Think of the nice to have information that would help bidders give you accurate bids - these are your fields to fill out (item/part number, description, materials)
Planning It Out and Creating Your Template
The good news is that you will create your first template from a csv or excel file. This allows you to see what you are asking before you start entering any data into the RFQ platform. Then you will upload the file to the platform and set your required values, as well as map the columns from the excel file to the RFQ platform. Your file must contain:
- Part Number
- Quantity
- Cost
- Unit of Measure
Outside of that you can enter any additional columns that will help you or the supplier, save the excel/csv file, and then you're ready for the next step. To see how to create your template click here.
