SourceDay uses multi-factor authentication (MFA) to help keep your account secure.
Note: Please reach out to your CSM or your SourceDay admin if MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) needs to be enabled for your company.
This guide will walk you through setting up SourceDay MFA using your device's security features, such as device fingerprints or security keys.
Step 1: Sign In to SourceDay
Enter your SourceDay password and select Continue.
Step 2: Select an Authentication Method
You will be prompted to add an authentication method.
Select Security Key (or, if you would prefer to use a Google Authenticator, please visit our other article)
Step 3: Click "Use Security Key"
SourceDay will provide you with a brief list of general steps to review before proceeding.
Step 4: If your device's landing page automatically selects a default option, select "Change" to view all available choices
It's possible that your device has a default security setting which will automatically prompt you.
If that is the case, click Change to view all options available to your device.
Step 5: Select your preference for storing your MFA passkey
Based on the options available to your device, select your preferred method of storing your MFA passkey. Commonly for Windows, some of the options available are:
-
This Windows device:
- Save the passkey on your computer for use with PIN, fingerprint, or facial recognition.
-
iPhone, iPad, or Android device:
- Save the passkey on your phone or tablet in order to use that device to approve sign-ins.
-
Security key:
- Save the passkey on a physical device, such as a USB key, that you connect when signing in.
Step 6: Follow the prompts on your device to complete setup
Based on your device and preferences selected above, the steps you will need to follow may differ.
Please follow the guidance on your screen until the passkey is appropriately saved to your device.
Example (for storing a fingerprint passkey through "this Windows device" as depicted above):
Step 7: Name your newly saved passkey
SourceDay allows you to provide a name to your passkey so that you know what is it called when trying to reference it in the future (e.g. "John's USB Key", or "Megan's Windows Fingerprint").
Step 8: Setup is now fully complete
Once everything is finished, you should see the following message:
- "You have successfully registered your Security Key."
You can now press "Continue" in order to proceed with logging into SourceDay.
Signing In After Setup
The next time SourceDay asks you to verify your identity:
- Your selected Security Key will be available for log-in.
- Completing the authentication via the method you have chosen (i.e. USB key, fingerprint, mobile device) will allow you to successfully authenticate and continue signing in.
Important
If you lose access to your authenticator app or are unable to sign in, contact your SourceDay administrator or SourceDay Support for assistance.
