SourceDay can be configured to match how your organization manages purchase orders. Some organizations divide PO responsibilities between buyers and planners.
Your organization’s configuration may differ, but typically:
- Planners can accept or propose changes to quantities and dates.
- Buyers can accept or propose changes to costs.
If a supplier proposes changes that require both buyer and planner approval, the PO line appears in the Needs attention view for each person to review.
Receive email notifications
Planners assigned to purchase orders can receive the same types of email notifications as buyers, including:
- PO acknowledgments
- Supplier-proposed changes
- PO updates
- Status changes
- Shipment updates
- Other default buyer notifications
You can adjust the frequency of these emails in your Account Settings.

Review supplier-proposed changes
When reviewing changes proposed by a supplier, you may see a lock icon next to a field you cannot update. A message explains your permission level and identifies which changes you can accept or modify.
If a proposal includes changes that require another role’s approval, you can act on the fields available to you. The PO line will remain in Needs attention until all required changes have been reviewed.
Filter the dashboard to your POs
By default, the PO Dashboard displays purchase orders from across your company. Use the My POs filter to focus your main views on the POs relevant to you.
The My POs filter applies to the Needs attention and PO lifecycle views. It does not apply to custom views.
